How long is the recovery after a tummy tuck?

You will be up and active the day of the surgery. Most patients return to light activity within one to two weeks and are back to office work around the same time. Exercise and heavy lifting are usually cleared after six weeks.

Will my tummy tuck scar be noticeable?

The incision is placed low on your abdomen, where it can be hidden by most styles of underwear and swimwear. Scars usually fade significantly over time, and our surgeons use advanced techniques to help them heal as discreetly as possible.

What kind of pain should I expect, and how is it managed?

Discomfort is normal in the first few days. At the Bengtson Center, we use TAP blocks (a long-acting numbing treatment) to minimize pain and reduce the need for narcotics. This helps you feel more comfortable from the moment you wake up.

What’s the difference between a full and mini tummy tuck?

A full tummy tuck removes excess skin and tightens abdominal muscles from the ribcage down to the pubic bone. A mini tummy tuck focuses only on the lower abdomen (below the belly button). It is best for patients with minimal skin laxity in that area and no muscle separation.

Can a tummy tuck be combined with liposuction or other procedures?

Many patients choose to combine a tummy tuck with liposuction for more comprehensive body contouring, or with breast procedures as part of a mommy makeover. During your consultation, we’ll create a surgical plan tailored to your goals.

How much does a consultation cost?

Consultations are $100, and that fee is applied toward your surgery if you decide to move forward.
